Faith, Love & Devotion: My Krishna Idol Journey
Every idol I hold is a reminder that Krishna’s love is endless.
Every collection carries a story, and for me, it’s the collection of Krishna idols and artwork that has slowly grown over the years. Each piece reminds me not only of my devotion but also of the moments, places, and people connected to them.
The First Gift
After my marriage, I moved to a different country. Before leaving India, my aunty gifted me a beautiful little idol of Baby Krishna, crawling in a swing chair.
It was the very first Krishna idol I received, and it holds a special place in my Pooja room.
Discovering in New Places
Later, while visiting an Indian shopping area abroad, I found a store selling a small standing Krishna idol with a flute.
I brought it home, and together with my first gift, these two idols became the foundation of my collection.
Treasures from India
On one of our vacations to India, I visited a store that specialized in antique pieces. There, I came across two beautiful Radhakrishna metal wall hangings—one of Krishna dancing with Radha, and another of them sitting together on a swing.
I hung them in different rooms, and I often receive compliments for these unique pieces.
My next addition was a paper-mâché Radhakrishna idol that I bought on Amazon India, which I now use during Navarathri Golu to display along with other divine dolls.
Gifts and Celebrations
During a family gathering in my new country, I was given a small Radhakrishna idol as a return gift. It was very small but very beautiful, and I placed it in my Pooja room.
For Gokulastami, I usually did pooja with the paper-mâché Radhakrishna idol that I bought from India. Later, we decided to buy a Baby Krishna idol and finally bought one of Krishna taking butter from a butter pot.
Then, I started doing pooja for him during Gokulastami. I now also use this idol for display during Navarathri, along with other divine dolls.
Another memorable addition came from a store called Krishna and Vrindavan. The name itself was so inviting that I had to step inside. There, I found a charming little crawling Baby Krishna and placed it on display on our TV unit.
A cousin visited my mother-in-law in my hometown and gifted her a brass Krishna idol, standing with a flute near the Karpaga Viruksham tree alongside Kamadenu.
My mother-in-law kindly offered it to me, and I placed it in my Pooja room with love.
A Painting with Krishna’s Blessings
During a difficult time when I faced some health issues and felt low, I turned to painting as a distraction. One day, I found a Krishna painting kit on Amazon and decided to give it a try.
The picture was of Krishna and Balaram taking butter from a pot. Although I had no experience with painting, the result came out beautifully, and I received many compliments.
I truly believe it was Krishna’s blessing that made it so special. Today, it hangs proudly on one of my walls.
My Little Krishna World
Over time, these idols, wall hangings, and even my painting have become more than just a collection—they are reminders of faith, blessings, and the small joys that life brings.
Some are placed in my Pooja room, some decorate our walls, and others are brought out during Gokulastami and Navarathri. Each one carries a memory, and together they make my home feel connected to Krishna’s presence.
Thank you for reading about my Krishna collection. I hope it inspires you to cherish the divine presence in your own home.
