Kashi Vishwanath: A Journey of Love and Blessings
A Blessed Journey to Kashi Vishwanath Temple
There are some journeys we take not just with our feet, but with our hearts. Our trip to Kashi Vishwanath was one such experience—filled with faith, family, and quiet moments of grace amid challenges.
1.The Journey Begins
A few years ago, my family and I set out on a spiritually meaningful trip to the sacred Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi. It was our first visit—filled with excitement, devotion, practical challenges, and profound blessings.
Since there was no direct flight from our hometown, we had to take two connecting flights to reach Varanasi. My mother-in-law, who had previously visited Kashi, joined us despite experiencing knee pain. To make her journey more comfortable, we arranged for a wheelchair and a dedicated assistant.
Our ten-year-old son, who has disabilities, also came with us. Due to his small size and the wide seat of the wheelchair my mother-in-law was using during the trip, we were able to seat him comfortably beside her.
2. Staying Near the Temple
We booked a hotel located just opposite the temple. However, since we had to cross the Ganga River to reach the temple entrance, we hired a small boat for the crossing. The hotel, though beautiful, was originally a palace converted into a heritage property. This meant large steps and limited wheelchair accessibility both inside and out.
While there was a lift for the rooms, getting from the reception to the restaurant required climbing some stairs. The hotel staff were kind and assisted us with the wheelchair, but outside the hotel, I had to carry my son up and down many steps, while my husband supported my mother-in-law.
3. Darshan at Kashi Vishwanath
Thanks to the blessings of Lord Vishwanath, we reached the temple safely. The assistant we had arranged helped us navigate the temple premises with the wheelchair. We arrived early—before 7 a.m.—hoping to avoid the crowd. At that hour, the temple was relatively quiet, but by later., it had become significantly more crowded.
We had arranged a small ritual and booked a priest. After the ritual, we were fortunate to have darshan of Lord Vishwanath. Initially, due to the rush, I couldn’t see the lingam clearly. But the temple guards kindly gave me space and time, allowing me a few peaceful moments for darshan. That experience filled me with a sense of calm and divine presence.
4. Spirit Over Rituals
As per tradition, my mother-in-law suggested we take a dip in the Ganga early in the morning. But due to high tide and safety concerns raised by my father-in-law, we chose not to.
That evening, the famous Ganga Aarti took place. Sadly, we couldn’t attend because of the darkness, our tight schedule, and our son's physical challenges. Though we missed these experiences, our hearts were still full.
5. Tradition Fulfilled
The next day, we returned home. My mother-in-law told us it's customary to visit Rameswaram within three months of visiting Kashi. Since my husband was busy with work, she generously offered to visit on our behalf—and she did. With that, our spiritual journey was complete.
Looking back, our visit to Kashi Vishwanath was filled with blessings, challenges, and unforgettable moments. It was a journey that deepened our faith and reminded us of the strength that comes from devotion and love. I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to visit Kashi Vishwanath — to experience the divine energy, to find peace amid chaos, and to receive the Lord’s blessings. May your journey be just as fulfilling and transformative.
