Collecting Lord Ganesha Idols: From Simple Beginnings to Spiritual Growth

“Every idol is not just an object, but a doorway to Lord Ganesha’s blessings.”

Over the years, I have been blessed to collect several Lord Ganesha idols and pictures, each carrying its own story and significance.

What began as a simple gesture has slowly grown into a spiritual journey that fills my heart with gratitude.

The First Ganesh Photo

Long ago, when we were living in another country, I asked my mother to give me some spiritual photo frames to take with me. Among them was a picture of Lord Ganesha, who is often worshipped as the primary deity.

I placed the framed photos on the coffee table in our living room.

Offering Milk and the Brass Idol

Later, when we moved to the country where I live now, I placed Lord Ganesha’s frame on the fireplace mantel and began offering milk to Him daily.

Setting Up the Pooja Mandir

As time passed, we set up an open pooja mandir in our entryway. I placed the Ganesha photo there, and with His grace, I slowly developed the habit of doing regular poojas.

My next addition was a brass idol, which I had originally bought as a décor piece and placed on the window sill. Later, with His grace, I began lighting lamps, offering flowers, and preparing neivedhyam (food offerings) for Him.

Eventually, we also bought a pooja shelf and placed the brass Ganesha idol there, offering prayers to both idols every day.

 Silver Ganesha from My Mother

My mother once gifted both my sister and me a small silver Ganesha idol, and the one she gave me became the third Ganesha in our pooja room.

Ganesha in the Car

Like many families in India, I felt it would be auspicious to have Lord Ganesha in our car. So, we bought a small idol and placed it on the dashboard for His blessings during our journeys.

A Gift for Our Baby

When we were blessed with our baby girl, my aunty gifted us a set of presents, among which was another small Ganesha idol.

That too found its place in our pooja room.

A Hidden Picture in My Wallet

A few weeks ago, while decluttering some cupboards, I discovered a Ganesha picture tucked inside one of my wallets.

I felt blessed and immediately placed it in our pooja room.

Ganesha in Brass Bells

We also purchased two pairs of hanging brass bells, and to my surprise, both had Lord Ganesha carved into them. I noticed this only later, after hanging one pair in our pooja room and the other in our entryway.

It is believed that having Lord Ganesha at the entrance of a home brings auspiciousness, so this discovery made me feel even more blessed.

Sharing the Blessings

Along the way, a dear friend of mine, who is also a devotee of Lord Ganesha from a different tradition, asked me to get an idol for her. I did, and she loved it deeply.

A Blessed Collection

Today, I have a beautiful collection of Lord Ganesha photos and idols, each carrying its own story and meaning. What began as a simple collection has become a journey of faith and devotion that has grown naturally over the years.

Performing regular poojas fills me with peace and gratitude, and I feel truly blessed to have Lord Ganesha’s presence in my life and home.

✨ Each idol and picture is a blessing, reminding me every day of His grace.
